JAMESBURG, NJ (1/29/2020) — The southbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike closed after an accident that involved four trucks on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Total Traffic Director of Operations Jim Battagliese, the vehicles involved in the accident were a tractor trailer in a ditch, two jackknifed tractor-trailers, and an overturned tractor-trailer. The southbound lanes north of exit 8A were closed due to the crash.

The right lane and shoulder were still closed as of 3:00 p.m., and all traffic was diverted to the other lanes.

State Police don’t know when the lanes will reopen, the severity of the victims’ injuries, or the cause of the accident. The crash is currently under investigation.
