Accident in Manchester Hospitalizes 4 People

MANCHESTER, NJ (1/28/2020) — Four people were injured in an accident on Commonwealth Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon after a driver ran a stop sign, according to Manchester police.

Michael Moody, 42, was driving a blue 2012 Nissan Armada westbound on Commonwealth Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. and was hit by a black 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe was driven by Barbara Dulfield, 66, who was headed north on Northampton Boulevard and ran a stop sign.

The collision’s impact caused both cars to spin out. The vehicles ended up in the front yard of a home on Commonwealth Boulevard.

Loretta Sueiro, 92, had to be extricated from Duffield’s front seat by firefighters from Manchester and the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department. Suiero was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown to the floor of the vehicle.

After the extraction, she was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with severe injuries, according to Manchester Captain Todd Malland.

Duffield, Moody, and Moody’s 5-year-old passenger were all hospitalized at Community Medical Center in Toms River. The child passenger was evaluated and discharged, but Moody and Duffield remain in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Malland reported that the investigation of the accident is currently ongoing, but driver error appears to be a contributing factor.
