LINDEN, NJ (5/26/2020) - A pickup truck driver and a Linden police officer were seriously injured Tuesday morning after being involved in a three-vehicle crash.
The accident happened around 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of South Wood Avenue and 19th Street.
According to Linden Police Lt. Christopher Guenther, an unidentified Linden police officer was driving on South Wood Avenue in his 2018 Ford Explorer police cruiser when he collided with a 2017 Freightliner utility truck. The Freightliner then hit a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
The police officer and the pickup truck driver were rushed to Newark University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the utility truck was sent to RWJBH Rahway Hospital with only minor injuries.
The Union County Police Department Traffic Unit is still investigating the cause of the accident. If you have any information about the crash, please call Officer Vic Burisch at 908-654-9800.
