Medical Malpractice Lab Errors

The administrative mistakes may simply be that the specimen is not handled appropriately in terms of it getting to the appropriate person for analysis or the paperwork is not submitted appropriately so that the result never actually makes it back to the physician.

In terms of specimens not being analyzed properly often times we see that when a specimen is submitted for example a pap smear is submitted to a laboratory the person that is analyzing the pap smear fails to recognize that there’s abnormalities within that specimen and they’ll report it as being normal when in fact it is abnormal.

Often times people don’t realize that the people that are hired by the labs to do these analysis are not even physicians. And so what we try to do is we try to make sure that we are having physicians who are analyzing the specimens and making sure that the laboratory did their job and reported the information appropriately to the physician.
