Sussex Woman Injured and Oakland Man Killed in Rockaway Crash

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ (12/13/2019) — On Friday morning a Sussex Borough woman, 24, and an Oakland man, 19, were involved in a fatal car crash on Green Pond Road. 

The man was driving north when he crossed into the southbound lanes, colliding with the Sussex Borough woman in her Mazda. 

The man died at the scene and the woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred during rush hour traffic and the road was closed until 1:15 p.m.

Rockaway Township Police Department, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and Morris County Prosecutor’s Office are still investigating the cause of the crash. This accident is the fourth fatal accident on Green Pond Road in 2019.

On July 23, James Reddy from Hamburg, 34, died after losing control of his motorcycle while driving north on Green Pond Road. Reddy left behind two children and a wife.

On Feb. 2, Samantha Viscardi from Rockaway Township, 22, crashed her car while driving under the influence of alcohol on Green Pond Road. Her passenger, Kimberly Boyle of Washington Township, 22, died after sustaining traumatic brain injuries from the crash. 

Katelynn Campbell of Vernon, 25, died in a three-car crash on Jan. 14.
