PISCATAWAY, NJ (6/11/2020) - A woman from Jamaica, NY was killed Thursday morning after her husband lost control of their car in a rollover crash.
The accident occurred around 3:35 a.m. on Route 287 just south of Exit 7.
According to New Jersey State Police Lt. Theodore Schafer, 37-year-old Amarjit Fnu was driving his 2006 Toyota Rav 4 south on the roadway with his family when he lost control of the vehicle.
The car then ran off of the roadway into a tree, causing it to flip over. All three of his passengers, including his 30-year-old wife Dheer Fnu and two toddlers, were ejected from the vehicle. It has not been confirmed if the 1-year-old and 3-year-old toddlers were their children, but they live at the same address.
Dheer was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Emergency responders rushed Amarjit and the two toddlers to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where they are in serious condition.
The New Jersey State Police are still trying to figure out the cause of the crash. A preliminary investigation found that Amarjit was the only person in the car wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
