Head-On Collision on Route 70 Rips Vehicle in Half, Kills Driver

Manchester, NJ (12/01/2019) - Louis Zuffanti, 59, died in a head-on collision with Joaquim Deoliveira, 51, Sunday evening. The crash happened on Route 70 near Green Acres Road around 6 pm.

Police stated that Deoliveira headed east on Route 70 in a 2017 Subaru Forester. Zuffanti traveled west in a 2000 Honda Accord. Zuffanti crossed the center line into the eastbound lane. The two cars collided, and the force of the crash caused the Honda to split in half.

Zuffanti wore his seatbelt at the time of the crash. He died at the scene. Deoliveira also wore his seatbelt. EMTs transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Police stated that wet roads and speed are contributing factors.
