As one of the leading medical malpractice attorneys at the law firm of O’Connor Parsons Lane and Noble, William R. Lane, Esq. was an excellent choice to speak on the New Scafidi Charge during a Medical Malpractice Seminar held recently in New Jersey. The New Jersey Association for Justice, or NJAJ, held the class at their annual meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Almost 2,000 people attended the meeting.

The New Scafidi Charge discussion pertained to the Jury Charge that a Judge gives to a jury in cases where there is a claim that a defendant doctor’s negligence combined with a pre-existing condition result in an injury or harm to the plaintiff. An example of when a Scafidi Charge is applicable is in delay in diagnosis of cancer cases.

A statewide association, the NJAJ is made up of more than 2,600 attorneys, as well as paralegals, law students, law clerks and law school graduates (waiting to pass the bar). The association provides continuing legal education classes, otherwise known as CLE classes to its members on a regular basis.
