Many times client will contact me about cases involving the failure to diagnose colon cancer. Those types of cases are broken down into two categories. There are those types of cases in which there has been a failure to perform appropriate screening for colon cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends that people over the age of 50 have colonoscopies for the purposes of screening for colon cancer.

The other type of cancer case that we often see involving the colon are those cases in which the client has had symptomology associated with colon cancer and the physician fails to act appropriately. So for example patients who have rectal bleeding, things of that nature that are significant in that they signify a potential colon cancer, those types of patients need to be acted upon.

Those types of patients have to have appropriate diagnostic testing to rule out cancer and if they don’t that can be medical negligence.
