U.S. Marine Dies in New Jersey Car Crash

Wantage, NJ – An 18-year-old U.S. Marine died on Sunday in a car crash in Wantage. 

The victim, Ethan Davenport, graduated from high school in Wantage. He had finished basic training in South Carolina on September 20. 

State Police Trooper, Alejandro Goez, responded to the accident at 1:20 am on Sunday. According to his report, Davenport died at the scene of the accident.

Police say that Davenport was driving east on County Road 650 in Wantage when his SUV went off the road and hit several large rocks and a tree. The accident happened near milepost 6.2. Reports say that there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. 

Goez reported that Davenport was wearing his seatbelt and that the road conditions were clear at the time of the crash.

The State Police Fatal Accident Unit closed the road for four hours to investigate the cause of the crash.
