Tractor-Trailer Crash Shuts Down Portion of New Jersey Turnpike

Mount Laurel, NJ (9/30/2019) - A stretch of the New Jersey Turnpike was shut down early Sunday morning due to a fiery crash involving a tractor-trailer.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. on the southbound side of the Turnpike just north of Exit 4.
Police say that the trailer lost control, striking a median and crossing all three lanes of traffic before rolling over and bursting into flames.
The driver of the tractor-trailer died on the scene.
The southbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed until 10 a.m. on Sunday. Police diverted traffic while investigators worked the scene. It is still unknown what caused the accident.
Investigators think that the wet roads could have been a factor. They are still investigating.
