Route 287 Crash Closes Northbound Lanes, Injures One

MAHWAH, NJ (3/5/2020) — A driver was airlifted to a local hospital after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Mahwah on Thursday.

According to State Trooper Alejandro Goez, the crash occurred around 1:34 p.m. when a BMW and a Honda collided on Route 287 just south of exit 66. 

The BMW driver was found unconscious after the accident, prompting authorities to transport the driver to St. Joseph's Medical Center. The driver regained consciousness during transit and is in healthy condition.

The northbound lanes of Route 287 were closed in the area of the accident, resulting in 70 minute delays. 

Police have not released the Honda driver’s medical status to the public, and no charges or summons have been issued so far. The crash remains under investigation.
