Head-on Crash Near Oakland Avenue Kills 1, Injures 4
Winslow Township, NJ — A head-on collision between a bus and an SUV left one person dead and four others injured early Friday, August 23rd.
According to authorities, an SUV crossed into oncoming traffic near Cross Keys Road and Oakland Avenue around 5:30 a.m., striking a bus that was part of a fleet used to transport people with disabilities.
The SUV’s driver, 28-year-old Howard Markee, was trapped in the vehicle and it reportedly took an hour for emergency crews to get him out. He was then flown to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the bus, his passenger, and the two passengers in the SUV were all taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
